Accredited exercise physiologists (AEPs) in Australia operate within the Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) Scope of Practice, which defines their role as university-qualified allied health professionals specialising in clinical exercise interventions for people at risk of, or living with, chronic and complex medical conditions, injuries, or disabilities.Our Key services include:
- Comprehensive health, fitness, and functional assessments to evaluate medical history, risk factors, physical capacities, and goals.
- Evidence-based prescription, delivery, and adaptation of exercise, physical activity, and movement programs tailored to individual needs.
- Clinical exercise interventions for chronic disease prevention and management (e.g., diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity, arthritis, osteoporosis, respiratory conditions, neurological disorders).
- Rehabilitation support for acute/chronic injuries, post-surgical recovery, musculoskeletal conditions, and pain management.
- Exercise programs to improve functional capacity, mobility, balance, strength, endurance, and independence in daily activities.
- Interventions to support mental health and wellbeing through physical activity (e.g., reducing symptoms of depression, anxiety, or stress).
- Behaviour change support, education, and lifestyle counselling focused on physical activity adherence and sustainable health improvements.
- Delivery in various formats: one-on-one sessions, group programs, home-based, telehealth, or community settings.
- Collaborative care with other health professionals, including referrals when needs fall outside AEP scope.
